Thick, chewy, and gooey — these are the best bakery style chocolate chip cookies made right at home. Rich butter, two kinds of flour, and a mix of chocolates create the perfect bakery taste.
Ingredients
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup cake flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup dark brown sugar packed
1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
½ cup milk chocolate chips
3 oz dark chocolate bar, chopped
Instructions
1. Whisk together flours, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cornstarch.
2. Cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy.
3. Add egg, yolk, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
4. Gradually add dry ingredients; mix until just combined.
5. Fold in chocolate chips and chunks.
6. Chill dough for 1 hour or up to 24 hours.
7. Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
8. Scoop ⅓-cup portions and place 3 inches apart.
9. Bake 15–18 minutes until edges set and centers look underbaked.
10. Cool on the tray 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Chilling dough is key to thick cookies.
