Carne Asada Marinade

  • Author: William Cantor
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Description

This authentic carne asada marinade delivers bold Mexican flavor with fresh citrus, garlic, and spices for perfectly tender grilled steak.

Ingredients

Scale

⅓ cup olive oil

3 limes, juiced (about 6 tablespoons)

½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped

4 garlic cloves, minced

1 teaspoon cumin powder

½ teaspoon chili powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Whisk all of the marinade ingredients together in a small bowl.

2. Pour the marinade on top of the steak, ensuring both sides are well coated.

3. Cover and marinate for 1–4 hours in the refrigerator before grilling.

Notes

Use flank or skirt steak for best results.

Do not marinate longer than 4 hours due to the acidity of lime juice.

Allow the steak to rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.

Slice against the grain for maximum tenderness.
