Description

Crispy Chinese Honey Garlic Chicken combines the crunch of fried chicken with a sticky, sweet, and garlicky glaze — a takeout favorite made simple at home.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

Oil for frying (canola or other neutral oil)

For the Marinade:

2 egg whites

1 tablespoon cornstarch

Pinch of salt

For the Honey Garlic Sauce:

4 tablespoons honey

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For Garnish:

Toasted sesame seeds

1 green onion, sliced

Instructions

1. In a mixing bowl, whisk egg whites, cornstarch, and salt. Coat chicken pieces and marinate 20 minutes.

2. Whisk honey, garlic, soy sauce, and black pepper in a bowl.

3. Heat oil to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken in batches 4–5 minutes until golden and crisp.

4. Drain chicken, then toss in simmered sauce for 2–3 minutes until coated.

5. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot.

Notes

Serve with jasmine rice or noodles for a full meal. Double fry for extra crunch.
