Description
Fireworks Cookies and Cream Cookies are soft, festive red white blue cookies made with vanilla cake mix, Oreo chunks, and colorful M&M’s. Perfect patriotic sweet treats for summer celebrations.
Ingredients
1 – 15.25 ounce vanilla cake mix
8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 ounces cream cheese, softened
2 cups Oreo cookie chunks
¾ cup red, white, & blue M&M’s, divided
½ cup red, white, & blue sprinkles, divided
Instructions
1. Mix together the dry cake mix, butter, cream cheese, egg, and vanilla until soft dough forms.
2. Stir in the cookie chunks, ½ cup M&M’s, and ¼ cup of the sprinkles gently.
3. Refrigerate the dough for 60 minutes.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
5. Use a 2-tablespoon cookie scoop to make 24 even dough balls. Press the remaining M&Ms into the tops of the dough balls and add extra sprinkles if desired.
6. Place the dough balls on a cookie sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
7. Remove the pan from the oven and let the cookies cool on the hot pan for 2 minutes before moving them to parchment paper.
8. Let the cookies cool completely before storing in a tightly sealed container.
Notes
Chilling the dough prevents spreading.
Do not overbake; cookies will continue to set while cooling.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
