Homemade Flautas

Description

Crispy homemade flautas filled with seasoned chicken and melted cheese, baked until golden and perfect for parties.


Ingredients

Scale

1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil

1/2 yellow onion, chopped

1 jalapeno, seeded and minced

3 cups shredded chicken

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon chili powder

1/2 teaspoon kosher salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon paprika

4 oz mild green chiles

1 tablespoon fresh lime juice

3 cups shredded cheddar or Mexican blend cheese

12 flour tortillas

Shredded lettuce

Pico de Gallo

Salsa

Guacamole

Sour Cream

Chopped Green Onion

Crumbled Queso Fresco


Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F. Place wire rack on baking sheet and spray with nonstick spray.

2. Heat oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and jalapeno and cook until soft.

3. In a bowl combine onion mixture, chicken, spices, green chiles, lime juice, and cheese.

4. Warm tortillas for 30 seconds in microwave.

5. Add filling to each tortilla and roll tightly.

6. Place seam side down on rack. Spray with oil.

7. Bake 18 to 23 minutes until golden and crisp.

8. Broil briefly if extra crispiness is desired.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan.

Reheat in oven or air fryer for best texture.

Serve immediately with toppings.
