Description

This make ahead French toast casserole combines the sweetness of custard-soaked bread with berries for the ultimate brunch dish. Perfect for holidays or busy mornings.


Ingredients

Scale

1214 cups French bread

8 large eggs

2 cups 2% milk

2 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon

2/3 cup brown sugar

1 cup strawberries, sliced

1/2 cup blueberries

12 tbsp powdered sugar

Maple syrup, to taste


Instructions

1. Grease a 9″x13″ casserole with butter or oil.

2. Cut French bread into cubes and place in the casserole.

3. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and brown sugar together.

4. Pour mixture over the bread, pressing lightly.

5. Top with sliced strawberries and blueberries.

6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate 4 hours or overnight.

7. Preheat oven to 350°F.

8. Bake 35–50 minutes until golden and set.

9. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle maple syrup before serving.

Notes

Use slightly stale bread for best texture.

Try other fruits like raspberries or apples for variation.
