8 fresh peaches, peeled, cored, and sliced

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 cup all-purpose flour

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Pinch of salt

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish

2. Arrange the peach slices in the baking dish and sprinkle with 2 tablespoons sugar

3. Add cornstarch if peaches are very juicy

4. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt

5. Melt butter and mix with vanilla extract

6. Combine butter mixture with dry ingredients until moist batter forms

7. Sprinkle batter evenly over peaches

8. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and bubbly

9. Let it rest for 15 minutes before serving

10. Serve warm with ice cream
