Description
Crispy, flavorful red lentil patties made with simple ingredients. Perfect for burgers, wraps, or healthy snacks.
Ingredients
7 oz (200 g) red lentils
1 red onion finely chopped
2 large garlic cloves chopped
1 chili pepper seeded and finely chopped
½ cup (60 g) whole wheat flour or oat/chickpea flour
2 tbsp nutritional yeast flakes
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp paprika powder (sweet)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tsp olive oil + more for frying
To serve: guacamole, fresh parsley
Instructions
1. Cook lentils in salted water for 10 minutes. Drain if needed.
2. Heat 1 tsp olive oil, sauté onions 2-3 mins, then add garlic for 1 min.
3. Combine cooked lentils, onions, garlic, chili, nutritional yeast, cumin, paprika, flour, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
4. Chill mixture 1–2 hours (or overnight).
5. Form 12 patties. Fry 4–5 minutes per side until golden brown.
6. Garnish with parsley and serve with guacamole.
Notes
If mixture is too soft, add more flour.
For gluten-free option, use chickpea or oat flour.
You can also bake the patties for a lower-oil version.
