Ingredients
3 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 small carrot, grated
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
3 cups seafood stock or fish broth
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup dry white cooking wine or seafood stock
1 cup lump crab meat
1 cup medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Fresh parsley, chopped
Paprika for sprinkling
Crusty bread or oyster crackers
Instructions
1. Sauté onion, garlic, celery, and carrot in butter and olive oil for 5 minutes.
2. Stir in flour to form a roux; cook for 2-3 minutes.
3. Gradually whisk in seafood stock and wine, then simmer.
4. Add smoked paprika, Old Bay, and cayenne.
5. Add shrimp; cook until pink and opaque.
6. Fold in crab meat gently.
7. Reduce heat, stir in cream, and heat through.
8. Adjust consistency with more stock if needed.
9. Garnish with parsley and paprika; serve hot.
Notes
Avoid boiling after adding cream.
Use fresh seafood for the best flavor.
Serve immediately with crusty bread or oyster crackers.
