Description

Strawberry Rhubarb Applesauce is a sweet and tangy fruit sauce made with fresh strawberries, rhubarb, apples, and orange zest. Perfect for breakfast or kid friendly snacks.


Ingredients

1/2 cup sliced strawberries (fresh)

1 tbsp cold water

1 cup diced rhubarb (fresh or frozen, cut into 1/2-inch pieces)

2 golden delicious apples (peeled, cored, and chopped)

2 tsp orange zest (from about 1 large orange)

1/3 cup orange juice (freshly squeezed)

1/4 cup granulated sugar


Instructions

1. Core and chop apples. Place in saucepan with cold water.

2. Cook over medium heat for 5 minutes, stirring often.

3. Add strawberries, rhubarb, orange zest, orange juice, and sugar.

4. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.

5. Cook for about 10 minutes until fruit softens.

6. Adjust sweetness if needed.

7. Puree for smooth texture or leave chunky.

8. Serve warm or refrigerate for later.

Notes

Taste before adding extra sugar.

Use frozen rhubarb if fresh is unavailable.

Store in airtight container in refrigerator for up to 5 days.
